Dear Member,
We are contacting you to advise that there will be an increase in subscriptions with effect from 1st March 2026.
The SVAS supports the Shuttleworth Collection in many ways however the increasing cost of this support now substantially exceeds membership income.
As some of you will be aware the current subscription rates have not changed for ten years. During this time the average rate of core inflation has increased by 4.4% pa. We felt it appropriate not to increase the subscription costs during the pandemic and have continued to cover significant increases in cost since. However, this has had a disastrous effect on our revenues which we are now forced to address. There has been significant increases in the cost of parts for aircraft and vehicles, many of which now have to be sourced from overseas with the attendant lengthy lead times and higher delivery costs
Subscriptions will therefore be revised as follows:
Annual single subscription £40 OR £39 when paying by direct debit.
Annual couple subscription £62 OR £60 when paying by direct debit.
Student subscription £15.
All subscriptions + £10 for photography membership.
Life membership remains unchanged at £900 for the under 60 year olds and £500 for those aged over 60.
Landing fees remain unchanged at £10 for SVAS Members
We believe this to be appropriate given the reduced but significantly enhanced shows including the new format Saturday events. It is also worth noting that the whole site has increased its participation in events including the House and Swiss Gardens.
Food from the Cafe will no longer be offered at discounted rates although free beverages will be provided when purchased in conjunction with a meal costing £10 or more. A shop discount of 10% will be offered on purchases over £5. However, from time to time special pricing discounts will be offered to members on selected items.
Volunteers will in future receive a 20% discount on meals whilst working on site.
It is our intention to continue with member only discounts on events together with extra ‘early bird’ discounts on events for the 2026 season. We will be introducing a limited number of member only events, details to follow. We welcome your input into the type of events that might be of interest.
We are also currently exploring the possibility of relocating the memorial wall for members to a more suitable location.
